There are now only nine days left until the end of the 2012 regular legislative session, meaning we’re in the home stretch to the finish line. This is about the time when things get very hectic and fast-paced here in the Legislature, as both parties and both chambers maneuver to get their bills passed before the March 8 deadline.
Last week, the House Democrats announced their operating budget proposal and yesterday it was the Senate Democrats’ turn. Besides including very few reforms and a few gimmicks, their proposal would also cut $11 million from our critical access hospitals. I’ll go into more detail about this issue later in another blog post.
Also, I wanted to invite you to sign up for the Ag Alert! newsletter that I’ll be publishing periodically. The redesigned format will make it easier for you to find the ag-related information that you’re looking for, and keep you up to date on what agriculture bills are moving through the Washington State Legislature. All you have to do is click here to be taken to the subscription page. You can always unsubscribe yourself at any time.
As always, it remains my great honor and privilege to represent you in the Washington State Senate. I’m looking forward to being back in district soon, so don’t hesitate to contact me if you need to schedule an in-person meeting.
