Faces of farming and ranching

Faces of farmingWhen it comes to today’s agriculture, there are many examples of great farmers and ranchers all over the country doing wonderful things to bring food to the table for those around the world. But few of those farmers and ranchers are recognizable by consumers, mainstream media and influencers. In fact, the pictures and perceptions of farmers and ranchers often don’t match reality – U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance wants to change that.

USFRA is looking for the “Faces of Farming & Ranching” to help put a real face and even a “heart” on agriculture. USFRA is kicking off a nationwide search of farmers and ranchers who can serve as the Faces of Farming and Ranching for a number of various national media, influencer and other public-facing opportunities.

USFRA has started a movement to bring more farmers and ranchers together to answer people’s questions about how their food is grown and raised. Many voices are leading conversations about food, often leaving out the people who actually grow and raise our food. We need a national face to be part of these conversations and represent the real farmers and ranchers of America.

Winners will have amazing opportunities to share their knowledge and experiences with national media, influencers and the general public. Plus, they could receive a $10,000 stipend to limit the burden of time away from the farm (no more than 30 days over the course of 2013), a $5,000 charitable donation to give to a local or ag-related charity of your choice, and professional media/speaker training to help effectively tell the story to any audience.

You can find the full details and read the official rules here. Entry deadline is Sept. 8.
