Bryan Funk serves as a Senate Page

I had the opportunity to work with 14-year-old Bryan Funk of Zillah, who served as my legislative page this week. Bryan is an eighth grader at Zillah Middle School and participated in the Senate Page Program, a week-long experience in Olympia where pages run errands, deliver mail, and serve in the Senate Chamber. Pages are also taught about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process.

Bryan is the son of Stephanie and John Funk of Zillah, and was one of 24 students chosen to participate this week. He and I are holding a sign that reads, “Let’s draw the line between youth and alcohol,” which is part of a statewide campaign to engage adults and youth in taking action to reduce underage drinking. You can visit the state Department of Social and Health Services website for more.
